How the King of the Hill Joust Cage Works
Two competitors enter the six-sided inflatable jousting cage. One player climbs onto the single raised center pedestal and becomes the "king." The challenger stands on the inflatable floor below and tries to knock the king off the pedestal using padded jousting poles. Both players wear protective headgear. The defender has the height advantage but must balance on the pedestal while absorbing hits from below. If the king falls off, the challenger takes the pedestal and becomes the new king. The next person in line steps in as the challenger, and the cycle continues. The enclosed cage walls keep every swing, dodge, and tumble safely inside the arena while spectators watch from all six sides. The red and blue striped inflatable floor cushions every landing.
What Sets the King of the Hill Joust Cage Apart
Six-Sided Enclosed Cage
The six-sided inflatable cage walls surround the entire arena, keeping all the action contained. Players can swing freely without worrying about tumbling outside the play area. Spectators get a clear view from every angle without any risk of being hit by a stray jousting pole.
Single Center Pedestal
Unlike dual-pedestal jousting setups where both players stand on mounds, the king of the hill features one raised center pedestal. This creates an asymmetric battle: the king defends from the high ground while the challenger attacks from below. The format keeps matches short, unpredictable, and spectator-friendly.
Padded Equipment
Every competitor uses foam-padded jousting poles and wears protective headgear. The inflatable floor and cage walls provide cushioned surfaces on all sides. The combination of padded equipment and soft landing zones makes the jousting cage safe for participants of all ages while keeping the competition intense.
Fast Rotation
Each match lasts 30 to 60 seconds. The moment the king falls, the new champion takes the pedestal and the next challenger steps in. This rapid turnover keeps lines moving and energy high throughout the event. Organize king-of-the-hill streaks or timed tournaments to add structure to the competition.
King of the Hill vs. Jousting Stage Battle: What is the Difference?
The king of the hill joust cage ($389) is a six-sided enclosed arena with a single center pedestal. One player defends the top while challengers attack from below. The jousting stage battle ($359) is an open arena with two raised pedestals where both competitors stand at equal height and joust head-to-head. Choose the king of the hill for a defender-vs-challenger format with fast rotation. Choose the jousting stage battle for an equal-footing, face-to-face showdown. Both include padded jousting poles, headgear, and professional delivery by Bouncey House Rentals.
